TNT China Aid Relief Update

Immediately following the earthquake on May 12, TNT China set about providing assistance in the emergency relief and recovery efforts. By working with four charitable organizations, namely China Charity Federation, the China Foundation for the Alleviation of Poverty, the China Youth Development Foundation and the China Foundation for Children and Adolescents, TNT China is currently utilizing our huge domestic road transport network and fleet of trucks via Tiandi Hoau, our wholly-owned domestic transportation company in China, to help organize supplies from around China to be transported to the impacted areas. We also assisted overseas governments in transporting relief materials via our Boeing 747 aircraft. According to estimations, over 2300 tons of relief materials will altogether be transported on our fleets and airlines. As of May 27, the efforts of TNT and its employees in terms of donations and logistics services provided have altogether risen to a total value of around RMB 6 million.

TNT China immediately responded to the call to support the aid relief work as following

1. Provide emergency logistics response for the relief effort
We are working closely with four charitable organizations: China Charity Federation, the China Foundation for the Alleviation of Poverty, the China Youth Development Foundation, and the China Foundation for Children and Adolescents. By utilizing our huge domestic road transport network and fleet of trucks via Tiandi Hoau, TNT is helping them transport relief materials from around China to disaster areas.

China Youth Development Foundation
On May 23, Tiandi Hoau agreed to help CYDF to transport 20,000 sq m worth of building materials, 8,000 sq m worth of tents, 500 tons of steel frames, as well as sets of desks and chairs and teaching aids to the disaster areas to build anti-quake hope schoolsfor affected children. These materials will help the China Youth Development Foundation build 600 anti-quake classrooms. Approximately 30,000 students will benefit from the chance to return to school. All relief materials will depart from Foshan on June 3. Altogether, Tiandi Hoau will transport over 2000 tons of relief materials collected by CYDF.

China Charity Federation
Until May 21, Tiandi Hoau had transported nearly 180 tons of relief materials collected by China Charity Federation to Mianyang and Chengdu, including bottled water, tents, foods, soft drinks, medicines, clothing, etc.

China Foundation for the Alleviation of Poverty
Until May 21, Tiandi Hoau had transported nearly 100 tons of relief materials collected by China Foundation for the Alleviation of Poverty to Deyang and Beichuan, including biscuits, electric torches and chocolates.

China Foundation for Children and Adolescents
Until May 23, Tiandi Hoau had transported 60 tons of relief material collected by the China Foundation for Children and Adolescents to Tianshui, which included 247 boxes of medical equipment, 2580 boxes of personal care products and 200 boxes of clothing.

In addition to its work with local charitable organizations, TNT also assisted overseas governments transport relief materials. Until May 29, 2008, TNT assisted the Belgian government, the Luxembourg government and the German government in the transportation of over 105 tons of relief materials from Europe to disaster areas. The relief materials included quilts, tents, blankets, water purifiers, kitchen stoves and mess kits, toilet facilities, medicine and medical devices, and etc.

2. Ensure safety and well-being of our own staff
We immediately sent a truck full of supplies (drinking water, food and tents) from Chongqing to Chengdu to support our employees affected by the earthquake. We will ensure regular supplies of water and food are being sent to our people until the situation returns to normal.

TNT China arranged for 70 large tents from global offices to help affected employees in Sichuan get through this difficult period. These tents arrived in Chengdu via our aircraft and fleet transportation. Any unused tents will be donated to other organizations for use in the affected area.

3. Provide immediate fund support
Immediately following the earthquake, TNT China commenced a fund-raising effort across all offices in mainland China and TNT China will match employee donations yuan for yuan (RMB). TNT offices globally have also embarked on similar fund-raising activities. All donations to help the children and families affected by the earthquake will be channeled through the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF), our existing partner in our local community outreach programs.

4. Contribute to rebuilding and recovery effort
In addition to the above- mentioned relief funds, TNT China will fund the rebuilding of a new Hope School in the Wenchuan area. This aid effort is targeted at children, trying to help get their lives back to normal as fast as possible.

Summary
We firmly believe that it is our responsibility to contribute to the communities in which we are part of, especially during difficult periods. Our thoughts and wishes go out to the injured and those who lost their loved ones during this devastating earthquake. We will continue to work with our partners to provide effective, responsible and caring relief support.
