TNT Express takes delivery of fourth Boeing 737-300F aircraft for its European air network
TNT Express – the world's leading business to business express delivery company – has introduced its fourth Boeing 737-300F aircraft, with an overnight inaugural flight between Liège, Belgium and Turku, Finland on 14 December. This follows the company's announcement in January 2004 to have a total of seven B737s in service by the end of 2007.
The latest B737 to enter service for TNT – leased for five years from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) – will provide additional capacity in the peak period before Christmas and replace chartered tonnage after Christmas.
Converted by GECAS to full freighter capabilities, the B737 will offer a payload of 16.5 metric tonnes.
Christian Drenthen, Managing Director, TNT Worldwide Networks said:
"We are delighted to be taking delivery of our fourth B737. Since first joining the TNT fleet in 2003, the aircraft has proved to be extremely reliable and efficient and can carry both types of container used by TNT.
"It is also Cat 3 capable - ensuring that it can operate in the most adverse weather conditions - and is fully compliant with Chapter IV noise regulations.
"The lease of these aircraft is part of our continued network development programme and of our commitment to provide the fastest and most reliable service for our customers."
Further B737's will be introduced into the company's European air network in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
