TNT Express Acts as European Film Awards' Official Carrier Again in 2008
Express service provider plays a starring role at Copenhagen award ceremony
Shanghai, 12 December 2008 – TNT Express, one of the global leaders in express services for business customers, supported the European Film Awards as the event's official carrier for the twelfth year in succession. The experts in orange transported the competition entries to all over Europe, and also brought the statuette trophies to the awards ceremony in Copenhagen. After the festive event, TNT Express delivered the trophies to each award winner personally. TNT Express has been the European Film Academy's official partner since 1997.
Over the past months, TNT Express has delivered copies of the 44 entries for the 2008 European Film Awards to the 1,850 members of the European Film Academy across Europe. The express service provider also transported the 19 statuettes from the famous jeweller Theo Fennell in London to the Forum in Copenhagen, where the awards ceremony took place. Around 1,500 guests attended the 21st European Film Award at the Forum, among them the Danish Crown Prince couple, Frederik and Mary, and Denmark's Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
After the awards ceremony, TNT Express took the statuettes back, kept them safe until they had been engraved and delivered them to the laureates afterwards - giving stars such as Judi Dench, who knows all about special missions, an opportunity to experience for herself how competent and reliable TNT Express could be in handling such a mission. The actress, who is well known for her role as "M" in the latest James Bond films, accepted a lifetime achievement award in Copenhagen. "The media like to purport the image that the winners bag their awards and take them straight home in their hand luggage," Dr. Dietmar Rau, regional director at TNT Express, said. "But in reality, the precious statuettes require special packaging and need to be handled with great care during transport. And we at TNT are the specialists for that - and, of course, for their reliable and timely delivery."
