TNT Post-Disaster Educational Aid Program Forges Ahead
TNT Future Leaders Hope School Open in Sichuan

(Guangyuan, 25 November 2010) TNT, a leading international express company, today officially launched TNT Future Leaders Hope School in Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province. The Hope School is part of the "TNT Future Leaders Post-Disaster Educational Aid Program", which demonstrates TNT’s core corporate value and commitment to give back to local communities. At the School Opening Ceremony held on the day, TNT China International Express and TNT Hoau representatives also brought hundreds books and teaching video material to the school.

The TNT Future Leaders Hope School is the only primary school in the area which offers education to over 200 students who are from kindergarten level to grade six. It covers 17,000 square meters and is composed of new teaching buildings, teacher and student dormitories and a canteen as well as a basketball court and sports ground. The newly built reading, music, art and PC room and science lab enable enhancement in the quality of the school’s education capabilities.

Michael Drake, Regional Managing Director, TNT North Asia said, "TNT Future Leaders Post-Disaster Educational Aid Program truly conveys our concern for students in affected areas."

He continued, "We are happy to be able to do something meaningful to help students return to normal school life in a better learning environment. The name of our Educational Aid Program, ‘Future Leaders’ reflects our hope that every child has an equal opportunity to receive a good education and can play a valuable part in our society."

The TNT Future Leaders Post-Disaster Educational Aid Program is a TNT corporate social responsibility (CSR) project launched in partnership with the China Youth Development Foundation, TNT’s long-term social charity partner in China. Other aid programs in the pipeline include building Future Leaders Libraries in 30 primary and middle schools across Sichuan Province and rolling out a Future Leaders Scholarship program for 300 talented high school students in Gansu Province.

"We appreciate TNT’s efforts in supporting disaster relief by providing logistical and financial assistance," said Tu Meng, Secretary-General, China Youth Development Foundation. "The Future Leaders Post-Disaster Educational Aid Program will not only provide children with educational opportunities, but also kindle a spirit of encouragement, helping these students regain confidence and dare to dream about their futures again." He continued.

Following the Sichuan Earthquake in 2008, TNT China’s involvement has been ongoing. By immediately teaming up with four Chinese charity associations including the China Youth Development Foundation TNT was able to successfully utilize its extensive domestic road distribution network and storage facilities as well as its air freighter and trucks fleet to transport over 2,300 tons of relief materials to the affected regions, including construction materials for 600 temporary earthquake-resistant classrooms. To date, the efforts of TNT and its employees, in terms of donations and logistics services provided, have amounted to a total value of over RMB 7 million.
